The North Hill Preservation Association was honored to present the following awards during our 45th Annual Meeting & Founders Day Celebration which was held on June 16th at the Pensacola Country Club:
Joyce Turner Award for Historic Preservation – Belinda and Andrew Russell
105 West Jackson Street began its life in 1889 as the very substantial barn, carriage house, and servants’ quarters for the Captain Dunwoody House behind it on Spring Street. Over the last 128 years, The Barn has been a residential home, a club, and several business firms once called it their home. Belinda and Andrew Russell have done simply an amazing restoration and made this into a lovely home to share with their family.
Edwin Marcellus Hacker, Jr. Award for Best Landscape & Garden –
Bessann & Gary Watson
Gary & Bessann Watson live at 1308 North Barcelona Street and their lawn and garden are always so beautiful. They have mastered the art of shade gardening beneath their majestic historic oak trees and the landscape is very indicative of turn of the century plants which would have been enjoyed in North Hill.
